Qiz — Privacy Policy
Effective 30 August 2026 · Contact: bcrawford24@protonmail.com
Qiz is an Android app made by Ben Crawford. It has no server, no user accounts, and no analytics. It does not collect, store, sell, or share your personal data. Everything the app reads stays on your phone.
Notification access (optional)
If you grant notification access, Qiz shows you your own waiting messages, deliveries, live scores, and media controls. You choose which apps Qiz may read, one at a time; the list starts empty and nothing is read until you tick an app. Notification content is processed only on your device: held in memory, never written to permanent storage, never logged, and never transmitted anywhere. Untick an app and everything read from it is immediately discarded. Qiz never sends, modifies, or dismisses your notifications.
Location (optional)
Qiz may use your phone's approximate (coarse) location to tell whether you are at home. That check happens on your device; your location is never stored long-term and never sent to us or anyone else. Weather is fetched for cities you typed in: the app sends those city coordinates to the Open-Meteo weather service to get a forecast. That request includes no account and no identity.
Microphone (optional)
Voice capture uses your device's own on-device speech recognition. Qiz requests on-device processing, and no audio is ever sent to us — there is nowhere to send it.
Calendar (optional)
With permission, Qiz reads your device calendars to show your day on screen. Events never leave the phone.
Content you add
When you add feeds (news, Reddit, Bluesky, Hacker News, RSS, stock tickers), Qiz fetches that content directly from those services, the same way a browser would. Those services see the network request — including your IP address — and their own privacy policies apply to it. Qiz adds no identifiers of its own. If you sign in to a service, your credentials go to that service, not to us, and tokens are stored only on your device.
Storage and deletion
Your settings and lists are stored on your device and deleted when you uninstall. If Android's own backup is enabled, your settings may be included in your device backup under Google's terms.
Children
Qiz is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address.
